A new chapter in the industrial and strategic evolution of the FS Group: FS Engineering is born to promote integrated, hi‑tech and digital engineering worldwide.
On February 5th, 2026, the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Company, Dario Lo Bosco, officially presented the new rebranding project.
The event was attended by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, the CEO of the FS Group Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, the President of the FS Group Tommaso Tanzilli, and the President of FS Engineering Laura Martiniello.
The new corporate name that will define the future of Italferr represents the culmination of a virtuous growth path that, over more than 40 years, has seen the company establish itself as a driver of Italian hi‑tech engineering worldwide. A centre of excellence active in 15 countries across 5 continents, capable of progressively expanding its scope well beyond the national railway sector and sustainable mobility.
Through its 4D, 5D BIM platforms and subsequent evolutions, in which it is a leader, FS Engineering aims to position itself as a highly specialized engineering as a highly specialised engineering hub for the entire Group, serving the country and acting as a designer of major civil engineering and innovation projects internationally.
The name FS Engineering highlights the pride of belonging to the FS Group, while also enhancing the uniqueness of the know-how developed in the digital construction site engineering, advanced smart system and technology adoption, and multidisciplinary research and academic partnerships. FS Engineering is taking up the baton from Italferr, which had already established itself in the transport, energy, water, construction, urban planning sectors and the integration of mobility, logistics and environment hubs.
FS Engineering aims to position itself as an infrastructure tech‑company, where traditional engineering integrates with Big Data, IoT and ESG criteria, placing sustainability, intrinsic safety of works and life‑cycle‑long scheduled maintenance at the core. It also leverages its unique Digital Twins experience, which already made it a key player in monitoring St. Peter’s Basilica using risk‑prevention techniques, especially for high‑value historical and architectural assets.
The transition to FS Engineering aligns the brand identity with that of leading international engineering players, enabling competition in the global markets of complex infrastructure and digital construction sites, with particular focus on workplace safety and the use of artificial intelligence, in line with the corporate mission. It also strengthens international cooperation, following FS Group strategies and the guidelines of MIT and the Italian Government.
This evolution is already recognized internationally, as demonstrated by prestigious awards received in 2025: the Digital Going Year in Infrastructure Award in Amsterdam, the SMAU Innovation Award 2025, and the OICE Sustainability Award, where the company ranked first among Italian engineering and architecture firms.
With this new name, FS Engineering presents itself as a Global Engineering Firm capable of managing infrastructural complexity at 360 degrees, maximizing engineering contributions to green policies and the sustainable mobility of the future, bringing Italian engineering excellence, innovation and technological research worldwide — supported also by FS’s innovative patents.
