The Envision™ Protocol is the first rating system for designing and building sustainable infrastructure. Developed through a collaboration between ISI (Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure) and the Zofnass Programme for Sustainable Infrastructure, it consists of 64 sustainability credits divided into five categories (Quality of Life, Leadership, Resource Use, Natural Environment, Climate and Resilience) and provides four different levels of certification (Verified, Silver, Gold, Platinum) based on the score achieved by the credits.
Envision is a true guide to the decision-making process, providing sustainability metrics to help designers and clients assess the extent to which the project contributes to sustainability.
The skills and experience gained by Italferr in the design of sustainable works have led to the identification of the Envision™ protocol as a useful tool for ensuring a holistic approach in the infrastructure design phases and enhancing the commitment to finding the most effective design solutions in terms of sustainability.
ENVISION SP
The Envision protocol is applied thanks to the presence at Italferr of over 50 Envision Sustainability Professionals (SPs), trained and updated through ICMQ Italia certified courses.
CERTIFICATIONS
Italferr supports clients in integrating the Envision approach and principles to ensure holistic and sustainable design from the early stages of the project and to obtain Envision certification after completion. The certification of the Lot 1 Apice – Hirpinia project, part of the Naples-Bari railway line, is cited among ISI best practices.
ENVISION GUIDELINES FOR RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE
Italferr has adopted guidelines for designing and building railway infrastructure in accordance with Envision certification, with the aim of steering design choices towards a more profitable balance between structure, environment and society. The guidelines were drawn up in collaboration with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, the national infrastructure manager, and ICMQ, the Certification and Quality Mark Institute in the construction sector. Italferr also supports other companies in the sector in drawing up Envision Guidelines dedicated to specific infrastructure areas (motorways, stations).
